Bilingual Digital Communication Strategy to Increase Access to Support Resources for Sexual Assault Survivors

Contex
Peace House is a nonprofit organization in Park City, Utah, historically focused on supporting survivors of domestic violence. At the time of this project, the organization was expanding its mission to more explicitly include services for sexual assault survivors and to strengthen outreach to the bilingual and Latino community.
The Digital Outreach role was newly created to leverage digital platforms for education, prevention, and direct access to support, in line with trauma-informed principles.
Challenge
- Shift public perception beyond domestic violence only
- Communicate sexual assault resources without retraumatizing survivors
- Reach bilingual and underserved communities
- Use social media responsibly for a highly sensitive topic
- Convert digital awareness into real program utilization
Without action, many survivors would remain unaware of available support.
Strategy
I designed a bilingual, mobile-first, trauma-informed digital communication strategy, focused on clarity, empathy, and accessibility:
- Short-form video content addressing frequently asked questions
- Educational “Did You Know” series using local and national statistics
- Audience-specific messaging (survivors, community members, allies)
- Creation of English and Spanish website content where none previously existed
- Privacy-centered, mobile-focused distribution
- Community-based outreach elements aligned with local culture
Creative decisions were carefully aligned with clinical and ethical guidelines established by leadership and therapists.
Execution
- Production of bilingual short-form videos
- Development of website copy explaining resources and next steps
- Graphic design and audiovisual content creation
- Publishing and moderation across:
- YouTube
- Cross-collaboration with partner organizations
- Close coordination with internal Peace House teams
Impact
